French race team CMR join Bentley Motorsport

French race team CMR – Classic and Modern Racing – will contest the full GT World Challenge Europe season in 2020 with a pair of Bentley Continental GT3s.

The team, which won the inaugural GT4 International Cup in the FIA GT Nations Cup in Bahrain and took European GT4 and French GT4 Championship race wins, has chosen Bentley Motorsport to support them in making the step up to the GT3 category.

Bentley will provide works drivers Seb Morris (GBR) – who will enter the five Endurance Cup races – and Jules Gounon (FRA) – to contest the five Sprint Cup races – while Pierre-Alexandre Jean (FRA) will take part in all ten rounds.

CMR’s Team Principal Charly Bourachot said:
“We announced in the middle of last year that our intention was to step up to GT3 and since then we have had lengthy discussions with several manufacturers. The Bentley brand is steeped in more than 100 years of heritage, which is important to us, and customer racing is where its motorsport passion began. The Continental GT3 is a very impressive car that has been successful around the world in the hands of Bentley customer teams and we aim to do the same.”

Bentley’s Director of Motorsport, Paul Williams, comments:
“Our intention for 2020 was to grow our customer racing programme in a careful and manageable way, and I believe we have done just that by working with teams who have a proven track record and the ability to perform with professionalism at the highest level of GT3 racing. After meeting with CMR, we knew that there were many synergies between our brands and were pleased to welcome them into the Bentley family.”

These two new entries bring the current number of Bentley customer racing cars on the GT World Challenge Europe stage to five, as K-PAX Racing announced its two-car Pro class line-up earlier this year and Team Parker Racing is set to run the Bentley Motorsport Academy Silver Cup car.

The drivers who will race alongside Gounon, Morris and Jean in the two Continental GT3s are yet to be confirmed but will be announced in the coming weeks.
